Hammer Vegan Protein Sources:
Pea Protein is an easily digested protein containing an excellent amino acid profile; it's a rich source of the amino acids leucine, isoleucine, valine (the three branched-chain amino acids), lysine, arginine, and glutamine. An interesting characteristic of pea protein is that it assists in lowering levels of grehlin, an appetite-stimulating peptide. The result of pea protein consumption is an increased potential for feeling satiated, thus helping to prevent overeating.

Organic Brown Rice Protein
is arguably the most hypoallergenic protein, which is especially important for anyone who suffers from chronic food allergies. When combined with pea protein, the two form a complete protein source, containing all essential amino acids and nonessential amino acids. Like pea protein, it is also very easy to digest and has the highest Biological Value (BV) of any vegetable protein source.

Organic Spirulina, a microscopic single-celled algae, is a complete protein source and has the highest concentration of protein by weight of any food. Considered by many to be THE superfood of superfoods, spriulina is vitamin- and mineral-dense, and is rich in enzymes and antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase. It's a potent source of chlorophyll (second only to chlorella) and essential fatty acids. Spirulina is also considered to be a blood-building nutrient, primarily due to its polypeptide content (called phycocyanin). Additionally, spirulina is believed to help maintain digestive system health by serving as a food/fuel source for beneficial intestinal flora.

Chlorella is another single-celled algae and, like spirulina, is a complete protein, loaded with chlorophyll and essential fatty acids. Chlorella is perhaps the most vitamin- and mineral-dense "green food" available, including a complete B vitamin profile. (Chlorella has more vitamin B12 by weight than liver!) Chlorella also contains naturally occurring RNA and DNA for assisting in cellular growth and repair, and is considered an "eye health" nutrient, courtesy of its plentiful amounts of beta-carotene and lutein. Research suggests that vitamin K directs calcium to the bone, keeps it there and out of the linings of arteries, and thus helps to prevent arterial calcification and arteriosclerosis. Alfalfa is also considered to be a helpful nutrient for lowering cholesterol levels.

I have bought this protein powder for the last year and will continue to do so because it is tasty and meets all my criteria for nutrient density. The protein blend of ingredients, the taste and texture is one of the best I have found amongst other protein powders. HN vegan protein powder is also higher in protein than other mixes and it tastes great in smoothies, mixed only with water or utilized as added protein in recipes that make sense with it. One of my favorite recipes to add it to is buckwheat pancakes. Instead of adding extra vanilla extract, I add approximately 1/3 -1/2 scoop of protein mix and the pancakes turn out great and taste even better than without it. I also add chia seeds to my pancake mix to make it even more nutrient dense.

I love Hammer Nutrition's vegan protein!!!  It's the perfect post-workout recovery drink for vegans.  I have all three great tasting flavours (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) on my shelf.   After any workout longer than one hour, I enjoy a vegan chocolate peanut recovery bar along with a vegan protein drink.  I am a huge Hammer Nutrition fan and use most of their products.  I've completed five ironman distance triathlons in two years and, touch wood, I have never bonked which means that Hammer Nutrition works!!!  I also recover quickly thanks to Hammer!!!

When HN introduced the VEGAN formula, I was excited to try it. At first the Vanilla was back ordered, so I tried the Strawberry; loved it. Now I just dipped into the Vanilla flavor, love it even more! It is the only protein powder that does not upset my stomach. Thank goodness for HN!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I've Been Looking For I'd given up on protein supplementation until I found this. I'm so glad I tried it. I have a large frame and a high training load. Add that to a calorie deficit (I'm trying to make a specific racing weight) and you have a recipe for plateaus and weak results. A dietitian suggested I increase my protein intake. I did, with this (I can't digest milk protein and it makes me water load like crazy), and everything has just started working again, and then some. It's highly effective for me. Tastes amazing mixed with oatmeal, too; like brownie batter.

Not only does it work well as a fuel source (DIY Recoverite - vegan version) during rides, but also as a post ride recovery drink. It even tastes good! Very pleased and I will continue to use as my protein powder of choice. Would love to see individual packets introduced for short road trips.

I use a 1/2 cup of sugar-free almond,coconut or cashew milk, 1 frozen banana, a scoop of Hammer vegan protein, a tad of peanut butter, some chia seeds & some ground cinamon...and blend. Great for breakfast or after workout....de LISH !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious Protein for Vegans! We use this in our breakfast with oatmeal and a little almond milk, or in pancakes and as an after run drink we mix it with the Strawberry HEED. It tastes great and mixes really well.
