Usage Instructions:

Please read chart carefully.

Dosing for Children:
Dr. Bill Misner suggests a dosage of one Premium Insurance Caps capsule per 22-25 lbs body weight/day. He also suggests that “This calculated dose should be divided and taken with meals for best results.”

High potency, vitamins, chelated minerals, amino acids, a broad spectrum of antioxidants, digestive enzymes and more replace a dozen supplements in one convenient formula. Compare our ingredients with all of the other supplements in your cabinet; you may find many of them to be unnecessary now.

Supplementation with this product is not necessary and not recommended prior to workouts unless at least a 3-hour window exists between consumption of the product and the beginning of the workout. We highly recommend taking Premium Insurance Caps immediately following exercise with Recoverite as the body is most receptive to what you consume at this time. The vitamins and minerals will help replenish what was depleted during the exercise and the antioxidant properties will help neutralize free radicals for reduced muscle soreness.

Complementary Nutrients

Bioperine™ – A trademarked standardized extract from the fruit of Piper nigrum (black pepper) or Piper longum (long pepper). Research has shown Bioperine™ significantly enhances nutrient absorption.

Pepsin – A digestive enzyme helps breakdown protein, pepsin is also necessary for the proper absorption of vitamin B12.

Bromelain – An enzyme derived from pineapple, bromelain supports healthy digestion and possesses anti-inflammatory properties.

Papain – An enzyme derived from papaya, papain supports healthy digestion and also has antioxidant and immune system supportive properties.

Phosphatidyl Serine – Also known simply as “PS,” Phosphatidyl Serine is a phospholipid that contains both amino acids and fatty acids. It is vital for the maintenance of all cellular function, especially in the brain. It also plays a role in the regulation of the stress hormone cortisol.

PABA (para-amino benzoic acid) – PABA is a B-complex vitamin that plays in the formation of red blood cells. It is also a potent neutralizer of singlet molecular oxygen, a free radical that is a common byproduct of metabolism. PABA’s free radical neutralization is a most powerful effect because it retards collagen cross-linking, and promotes flexibility and healthy cell structures and membranes.

Quercetin – A water-soluble flavonoid typically found in onions, apples, leafy vegetables, and other food sources. Quercetin has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Phosphatidyl Choline – A phospholipid bound to a choline particle. Phosphatidyl Choline supports brain health and liver function, and helps to keep cholesterol levels in check.

Insurance is the operative word.

I've been using Hammer products for some time now and I cannot say enough about their products, their service, and the company itself. The Insurance Caps are a mainstay of my daily routine. I run a lot and don't always have the opportunity to eat just right. The Insurance Caps fill in the gaps and a...

I'm not a vitamin guy, but I thought I would round my nutritional needs with this product and Mito Caps. I have been using both for approximately 2+ weeks. I don't feel any worse but do I feel better?? I don't know....

Admittedly, I do not use the suggested dosing of PIC on the label. I tracked my macros and supplements for a year and found that I was happy with the vitamins and minerals I get from my diet, but adding PIC to the mix fills some deficiencies I found. Honestly, I originally started taking less because with the suggested dosage plus my other supplements, I was taking a small bowl of pills... Very happy knowing the quality standard that goes into Hammer supplements is much better than other mass produced multi-vitamins that are very low quality.

I take 4 caps after my dailly bike rides and sometimes additional at meals. I am 72 and seldom get a cold and seem to be healthier than most of my friends of my age. I attribute this to the products I take from Hammer.

Why is vitamin B5 not included in the insurance caps. This question came up after reading one of the answers that said, "We include similar amounts in Premium Insurance Caps, which makes using a separate B-complex vitamin supplement unnecessary." Is B5 not necessary for the b-complex?

Asked by nlyte
Verified Reply - SteveVitamin B5 is pantothenic acid, and on labels of multivitamin/mineral supplements, oftentimes the latter is the one that is used. Every 7-capsule dose of Premium Insurance Caps contains 100 mg of pantothenic acid/vitamin B5.

Are the Premium Insurance Caps Vegan?

Asked by Steve
Verified Reply - SteveYes, all of the ingredients in Premium Insurance Caps--the capsules as well--are 100% vegan

I am unable to swallow pills - i take Tissue Rejuvenator daily but i take apart the capsules onto a spoon and wash it down with water. I do the same with the PSA capsules. What i want to know is 'do i get the same benefit out of doing this as i would if i could swallow the capsules?' I notice that i have to swish around in my mouth so that i am able to get all or most of the content of the capsules down so i wonder how much (if any) benefit i am losing? I also empty the Premium Insurance Caps into my Recoverite after a ride - is that ok?

Asked by Carl
Verified Reply - SteveEmptying the contents of the capsules of the products you're taking and swallowing them (or mixing them in water or a small amount of juice) is perfectly acceptable, with no loss of benefits whatsoever.

Is it gluten-free?

Asked by Bob
Verified Reply - SteveAll Hammer Nutrition products, including Premium Insurance Caps, are gluten-free.

Is this supplement safe for athletes with kidney disease or reduced kidney function?

Asked by Jennifer
Verified Reply - Hammer SteveThe National Kidney Foundation ( suggests that B-Complex vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin D, and calcium are especially beneficial for people with reduced kidney function. All of these can be found in Premium Insurance Caps. However, before you start on this product, it is extremely important that you first get your health care professional's approval.

Description says great for non-athletes and women. What are the dosages for these categories?

Asked by Diane
Verified Reply - Hammer SteveIn general, we suggest a dose of anywhere from 4-7 capsules a day, in divided doses. Lighter weight people, on non-workout days, will benefit from as little as 1 capsule twice daily, though double that dose would also be appropriate. On workout days, a dose of 4 capsules daily all the way up to 10 capsules daily is merited. Most athletes typically take 6-7 capsules daily on workout days (in divided doses), but on especially hard/long workout days, dosing up to 10 capsules daily--in divided doses--is extremely beneficial. On workout days, the main dose of the day should be shortly after exercise, with Recoverite or food.

Is it really necessary to take 7 caplets per day? Reading the label, 6000+% of thiamin (along with the others with above 100% RDV) seems like I would be excreting a good portion and wasteful. I'm considering purchasing the daily essentials group to see if there is a benefit (I'm sure there is), so it would appear I would be getting 'mega' amounts of some , i.e. all the B vitamins, etc. Can I reduce the dosage to 2-3 per day and still see a benefit?

Asked by Peter
Verified Reply - Hammer SteveUnless you are doing a particularly long and/or arduous workout, a daily dose of 2 capsules twice daily is quite sufficient. However, when you do those tough and long (3+ hour) workouts or races, a dose of 7-10 capsules--in divided doses, not all at once--is merited and highly beneficial. In regards to the amounts of nutrients in the product, with some of them (mainly the B vitamins) seemingly being very high, please keep in mind that we calibrate the product using a standard called the Optimum Daily Intake (ODI). The government standards--Daily Value (DV), Reference Daily Intake (RDI), and Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)--are amounts that only reflect what is needed to prevent a deficiency disease. As an example, if you consume the DV/RDI/RDA for thiamine, you won't get a disease called beriberi. But that's pretty much all you'll be doing... that isn't a sufficient amount of thiamine to do anything towards optimizing and improving health. Dr. Shari Lieberman designed the ODI, and here is her rationale, as outlined in her book (really great book, BTW) "The Real Vitamin & Mineral Book: Using supplements for optimum health." The need for ODIs is based on six factors: 1) The RDIs are generally based on an amount that simply prevents overt deficiency diseases. 2) The RDIs do not take into account preventative or therapeutic levels of nutrients. 3) We cannot meet the RDIs even if we eat the "perfect" diet. 4) Because of many factors, including the loss of nutrients through shipping, storage, and processing, the foods available to us do not contain the amounts of vitamins and minerals they should contain. 5) Owing to the constant bombardment of stress factors, from pollution to emotional stress, we require higher levels of vitamins and minerals than originally thought. 6) We do not absorb 100% of the vitamins and minerals in foods and supplements. Dr. Lieberman goes on to say, "RDIs reflect amounts that are adequate to prevent nutrient-deficiency diseases, and are not tailored for individual needs. In order to attain a state of optimum health and disease prevention, we must take into our bodies optimum—not minimum—amounts of vitamins and minerals." So whether it's RDA, RDI, or DV, those amounts represent the "bare bones minimum." One of the points that Dr. Lieberman makes is in regards to the fact that most nutrients are not all that well absorbed to begin with, which makes it necessary to include higher amounts to offset poor absorption issues. This is especially true with some of the B vitamins, especially B12, folic acid, and thiamine. Also, given that these B vitamins are water-soluble, they don't have a truly lengthy "life span" in the body. That's why it's important to take multiple doses a day (2-3 is sufficient, depending on how many capsules you plan on taking for the day), so that you get more complete nutrient "coverage" in the body. Yes, you may urinate out a portion of those B vitamins, but it will be significantly less if you take multiple doses. However, in spite of the high percentage numbers, the fact that the body needs a lot more B vitamins than what the DV/RDI/RDA amounts represent, as well as the fact that stress of any kind--physical, mental, emotional, environmental--rapidly depletes the B vitamins, and taking into account the not-always-so-great absorption rates, the amounts we include in Premium Insurance Caps are definitely merited and will actually yield positive benefits. By the way, most "Stress Formula" products that you see in a health food store are primarily large doses of the B vitamins. We include similar amounts in Premium Insurance Caps, which makes using a separate B-complex vitamin supplement unnecessary. Lastly, you will notice that your urine will turn to bright yellow color after taking Premium Insurance Caps. This does not mean that you are "urinating out all of your vitamins." This change in urine color is a natural and completely safe effect of riboflavin (vitamin B2).
