Why do you include wheat germ oil in Endurolytes Fizz, and is it gluten free?

The original version of Endurolytes Fizz contained magnesium stearate as a tablet-pressing lubricant. After further research, we revised the Fizz formula to include wheat germ oil in lieu of the magnesium stearate, because wheat germ oil dissolves more readily in solution and does not leave the same film on the water surface.

One of the largest customers of the same manufacturer that produces Endurolytes Fizz for Hammer Nutrition completed an extensive quality control evaluation of their products produced by this manufacturer. They use wheat germ oil as the sole lubricant in their products, and the results of their quality control evaluation showed the following positive conclusions:

  • Wheat germ oil leaves no residue or film.
  • Wheat germ oil accelerates the effervescent reaction.
  • Wheat germ oil is gluten-free. ***
  • Wheat germ oil is 100% allergen-free.

Regarding the last two statements, this has been confirmed by our manufacturer who stated, "There is less than 5 ppm (parts per million) gluten in wheat germ oil; it requires no allergen statement of any kind."

*** From this website: http://www.fda.gov/Food/LabelingNutrition/FoodAllergensLabeling/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/ucm111487.htm, item number 10 answers the question, how does the FDA define 'gluten-free.' Gluten-free, to mean that a food bearing this claim in its labeling does not contain 20 ppm or more gluten. As you can see by the attached assay, there are less than 5 parts per million (ppm) in the wheat germ oil component in Endurolytes Fizz.
