Why is it suggested that Appestat be used in a "3 week on/1 week off" cycle?
The 7-day "off" cycle is employed to keep the body from lowering basal metabolic rate (BMR) in response to caloric restriction; after approximately 3 weeks of lowered caloric intake, BMR begins to drop. If BMR is permitted to dip low enough, your body becomes very efficient at burning a decreased amount of calories, resulting in no loss of body fat weight.
During your 7-day "off" period, eat healthy foods often in small portions, and without stuffing yourself. Many times during the "off" week, BMR is set higher, increasing the weight total lost. Some may notice they actually observed greater weight loss during this period. After the 7-day respite, return to using Appestat for 21 days.
