Product Detail & Benefits

Description:

HEED is a definite "step up" and welcome departure from the seemingly endless number of powdered sports drinks available to endurance athletes. One of the primary flaws inherent with most sports drinks is their reliance on simple sugars as the carbohydrate source. The use of simple sugars such as glucose, sucrose, and fructose not only severely limits the amount of calories that can be efficiently digested and utilized for energy, but also may cause wild fluctuations in energy levels. HEED's complex carbohydrate formula, on the other hand, allows you to obtain the ideal amount of calories you need, providing a more consistent and longer lasting energy supply, and without putting you at risk for the stomach distress commonly caused by simple sugars.

HEED also provides a complete, easily assimilated electrolyte profile—not just salt and potassium, which comprise the electrolyte "profile" of most other drinks. For many athletes under normal conditions, one or two scoops of HEED will completely fulfill electrolyte requirements (in addition to caloric requirements). For other athletes, the electrolyte profile in HEED will provide an excellent base from which additional Endurolytes can be added to completely satisfy electrolyte needs. With added chromium polynicotinate for maintaining stable blood glucose levels and l-carnosine for buffering lactic acid, HEED is truly in a class of its own in the world of powdered sports drinks.

So whenever a sports drink is your preferred choice, "heed" your body's desire for a superior fuel. HEED is the only choice you need to make!

Benefits:

HEED sports drink comes in the following delicious flavors: Strawberry, Melon, Mandarin Orange, Lemon-Lime, and Unflavored.

Sports drinks have been around a long time, and for many athletes they're more convenient than energy gels. Unfortunately, most sport drinks are not much more than artificially colored sugar water that does little to aid your performance and even less for your health. That is why we developed HEED as a healthy alternative; HEED's subtle tasting, complex carbohydrate formula goes down easily and supplies you with consistent, long-lasting energy and the electrolytes you need to keep pushing the pace. No citric acid is added to the formula, so it will not burn your throat or stomach. HEED's sweeteners, stevia and xylitol, are actually good for you; xylitol is especially beneficial for helping promote oral health. The full-spectrum, amino acid-chelated electrolyte profile helps satisfy your body's mineral requirements. L-carnosine and chromium polynicotinate help to buffer lactic acid and support stable blood glucose levels. If you prefer sports drinks over energy gels or like to use a combination of the two, try HEED and find out what a sports drink done right can do for your athletic performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heed I have used Hammer products for years. I race self supported gravel events. This year I was talked into giving Tailwind a try. I have gone back to Hammer for better results. Thanks for a great quality products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mild Flavor and Works Great The mild flavor makes it easy to put down as much electrolytes as you need to on a long, hot bike ride. Keeps cramps and dizziness at bay. Valuable calories in the heat. I absolutely rely on this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great when riding only an hour or two I live in Colorado and generally do most of my training on my indoor trainer during the winter months. I ride 6 days a week and use Heed for most of those rides. Longer rides I tend to use Perpetuem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heed tastes awful Although I've used several Hammer products over the years, this is the first time I've used Heed. I wish I had tested a smaller package before buying the large container... this stuff tastes absolutely awful. It's understandable that a product which is man-made - even from healthy ingredients - won't taste as wonderful as natural drinks....but this has a very strong, distinct chemical taste. If I could return it and get a refund, I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great taste, no sugar Love HEED for those days you just don't want to suck down a gel! Doesn't bother my stomach like other sports drinks are known to do. Is a nice light flavor, no added sugars, keeps you going.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEED Mandarian Orange Personally it is the best flavor of HEED. I never get tired of the taste. It has been a big component to successful hydration for my ultra training and races. Highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works~ on long bikes I used a lot of heed, it helps, usually right away I'll feel an energy boost from sipping on it. I do 2 scoops per bottle from start to finish on 100+ mile rides

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The unflavored disaster! This product leaves an awful after taste. I've been mixing it with other powders just to try to mask it, but I haven't been successful. Disappointed in this hammer product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workout energy I find it difficult to eat within 3 hours of training, and I use Heed just prior to and during my workout. I find it a great source of fuel to keep me going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEED is a lifesaver! HEED has been a staple in my daily cycling activity for years. Thanks Hammer Nutrition for the Superior product and outstanding A++ service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Born again Hammer user! It's been a few years since I used Hammer. I typically don't use supplements because I'm Vegan and I don't like strange ingredients in my body. But after some research, I bought several gels and heed packets for my hydration backpack. I used everything according as directed. Not only did I feel great and my energy levels stay high the whole race, I set a new marathon PR by 3 minutes! For me that's awesome because I did not get to train as hard as I wanted to. Thanks Hammer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for racing or training! I always carry two or three servings of lemon-lime HEED with me to every nordic ski race I do. It is a great pre-race drink that tastes good but also fills you up and keeps you energized throughout the entire race. While using HEED, I haven't really experienced any side cramping that I noticed while using other companies sweeter drink mixes. I keep a 16 serving container with me at home but love the individual serving packets to take to races and on other trips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Active Recovery Days When it comes to getting through an active recovery day HEED is the help you need. The body demands a little TLC after being pushed too hard. Sitting on the couch is not the remedy; a light workout is. Having HEED close at hand not only sustains energy; it gives you the confidence to know that you are treating your body as you should despite feeling a bit used up. You are supposed to feel better after an active recovery workout. HEED will ensure that you do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look no further, this is the best For sometime I struggled with not having great nutrition on long rides and runs. I would finish feeling depleted and tired, sometimes nauseous. It wasn't until I decided to give the Hammer products a try did I learn how important proper fueling for long training was. Heed and Perpeteum are now the only nutrition I use. From 100 mile centuries, to Half Iron events, this stuff works! Not only do I finish well, I am not completely wiped out afterwards.
Date published: 2014-09-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best This stuff is great. I'll drink some combination of HEED and Perpeteum during races and long training sessions and neither of them have let me down. But my favorite use of HEED in particular is perking up oatmeal - 1/3 cup oats, 1 scoop of HEED (strawberry), 1 scoop of either Perpeteum (strawberry-vanilla) or Soy Protein (vanilla), and 1 cup of water. Add some berries/bananas/walnuts and some almond milk. Delicious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST for endurance racing!! I have stomach issues with overly sweet drinks. I find Heed perfect for long endurance events (do Ironman, marathons and centuries/double-centuries). It's easy to digest, replenishes electrolytes and isn't too sweet. My tastebuds and stomach get sensitive the longer the distance. I mix it with Sustained Energy or Carbo Pro when I need more calories and use Endurolytes for electrolyte replenishment every 30 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've been using HEED for more than a decade as a marathoner & now a cyclist after a friend introduced me. Tastes great. Works great. It's milder than other sports drinks, not as salty tasting either. I'm a huge fan of the Orange—taste like an orange push up popsicle. Just now tried to Lemon Lime—the flavor reminds me of lime jello with a big dollop of whip cream on it. Melon is mild and tasty too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved Me! Playing Pickleball singles in tournament and finally a sunny day after weeks of rain. Had my trusty "sports drink" but hit the wall in prior match. Was considering a forfeit even though now in finals. Very nice lady said "you need some electrolytes" and poured her Heed in my water bottle. Drank it up and I started to feel much better. Went out and won the gold next match with ease. Have already ordered online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tastes Great - All the Time!!!! This has been a consistently used product by me, my wife and my daughter. Living in Arizona where it tends to go from cool to hot during a typical activity, it's important to have a drink that tastes good when cold, warm and even sometimes hot. Heed does this. It also provides a very reliable and consistent energy source and the various flavors provide an opportunity to change things up a bit.
Date published: 2014-08-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid sports drink alternative What originally attracted me was a recommendation from my brother-in-law who works for a bike parts company and the lack of anything that you don't need a sports drink. What I like now, after having tried it several times, is that it provides you some solid energy during your ride and afterwards. The only downside (a slight) is that it does get chunky. It is now a must-have on a ride I take!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heed is Always in the truck of my SUV I've been using Heed for many years....long before becoming a Hammer Nutrition Ambassador....which is likely the reason I wanted to align myself with a winning company...The products WORK! I always keep Heed in my car with a jug of water and Hammer Nutrition bottle for quick mix before workout...to stay hydrated and fueled without any sugar found in typical pre-workout sport drinks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Works Riding with type II diabetes I usually drink plain water on my bike rides because of the highs and lows I experience with sports drinks. After reading the reviews about Heed on your website I decided to give it a try. I couldn't believe how well this stuff works. Not only on the bike but my after ride recovery is much quicker. The Mandarin Orange also taste great. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my "go to" sports beverage mix The Hammer HEED is the sports beverage mix of choice for me. I have tried other brands but keep returning to HEED. I really like the fact that this one doesn't contain simple sugars. Most of the other large commercial brands do. Good quality ingredients and the taste is not too sweet. I have tried several flavors and the Strawberry and Melon are my current favorites.
