Product Detail & Benefits

Description:

HEED is a definite "step up" and welcome departure from the seemingly endless number of powdered sports drinks available to endurance athletes. One of the primary flaws inherent with most sports drinks is their reliance on simple sugars as the carbohydrate source. The use of simple sugars such as glucose, sucrose, and fructose not only severely limits the amount of calories that can be efficiently digested and utilized for energy, but also may cause wild fluctuations in energy levels. HEED's complex carbohydrate formula, on the other hand, allows you to obtain the ideal amount of calories you need, providing a more consistent and longer lasting energy supply, and without putting you at risk for the stomach distress commonly caused by simple sugars.

HEED also provides a complete, easily assimilated electrolyte profile—not just salt and potassium, which comprise the electrolyte "profile" of most other drinks. For many athletes under normal conditions, one or two scoops of HEED will completely fulfill electrolyte requirements (in addition to caloric requirements). For other athletes, the electrolyte profile in HEED will provide an excellent base from which additional Endurolytes can be added to completely satisfy electrolyte needs. With added chromium polynicotinate for maintaining stable blood glucose levels and l-carnosine for buffering lactic acid, HEED is truly in a class of its own in the world of powdered sports drinks.

So whenever a sports drink is your preferred choice, "heed" your body's desire for a superior fuel. HEED is the only choice you need to make!

Benefits:

HEED sports drink comes in the following delicious flavors: Strawberry, Melon, Mandarin Orange, Lemon-Lime, and Unflavored.

Sports drinks have been around a long time, and for many athletes they're more convenient than energy gels. Unfortunately, most sport drinks are not much more than artificially colored sugar water that does little to aid your performance and even less for your health. That is why we developed HEED as a healthy alternative; HEED's subtle tasting, complex carbohydrate formula goes down easily and supplies you with consistent, long-lasting energy and the electrolytes you need to keep pushing the pace. No citric acid is added to the formula, so it will not burn your throat or stomach. HEED's sweeteners, stevia and xylitol, are actually good for you; xylitol is especially beneficial for helping promote oral health. The full-spectrum, amino acid-chelated electrolyte profile helps satisfy your body's mineral requirements. L-carnosine and chromium polynicotinate help to buffer lactic acid and support stable blood glucose levels. If you prefer sports drinks over energy gels or like to use a combination of the two, try HEED and find out what a sports drink done right can do for your athletic performance.

Caloric Intake - Proper amounts during endurance exercise

Endurance and ultra-endurance athletes require all three forms of fuel the human body uses for energy: carbohydrate, protein, and fat. A major factor for optimal performance is using the right fuel, at the right time, in the right amount. Like every aspect of success in endurance events, proper nutrition requires planning, practice, and training to reap the benefits on race day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Energy I started using Heed a little over a year ago, and I have had so much more energy during both long, and intense workouts. I now use heed for every workout, and never train with water anymore.
Date published: 2014-07-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best electrolyte drink mix I have used. Heed has always worked well for me; I have used it whenever the ambient temps get over 80 or the ride is much more than 40 miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flavor and Hydration drink. I have been using hammer gels now for three years and been wanting to move away from all the sugar in gatoraid. I love the lemon flavor and my wife love the orange. It does exactly what it says does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Born again Hammer user! It's been a few years since I used Hammer. I typically don't use supplements because I'm Vegan and I don't like strange ingredients in my body. But after some research, I bought several gels and heed packets for my hydration backpack. I used everything according as directed. Not only did I feel great and my energy levels stay high the whole race, I set a new marathon PR by 3 minutes! For me that's awesome because I did not get to train as hard as I wanted to. Thanks Hammer!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The unflavored disaster! This product leaves an awful after taste. I've been mixing it with other powders just to try to mask it, but I haven't been successful. Disappointed in this hammer product.

Date published: 2014-06-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stuff Heed is excellent as always. The only bad thing is that compared to the bags of heed the mouth of the tub is too small to fit your hand inside to reach all the way to the bottom to get a few scoops unless you have dainty little hands.
Date published: 2014-06-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mild Flavor and Works Great The mild flavor makes it easy to put down as much electrolytes as you need to on a long, hot bike ride. Keeps cramps and dizziness at bay. Valuable calories in the heat. I absolutely rely on this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from trial run I have only just begun to use these products, but so far I am happy. It is true that it is very easy on my stomach and that I like. So far my energy level is holding up. I'll be doing more aggressive testing in the weeks to come.
Date published: 2014-06-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I just started using Heed this year as a new precursor to my training as a fuel and a way to add nutrition and water while training for the 24 hour challenge coming up in a couple of weeks, I find that it is to drink and it does not make my stomach upset, there is no nasty sweet after taste left in my mouth, which is really nice when the temps. are up, even then it does not get nasty or sugary.
Date published: 2014-06-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heed Drink Mix Been using this product for a few years now, perfect nutrition mix for my shorter hard effort workouts!
Date published: 2014-06-01
Rated 4 out of 5 by from non sweet and a little lemon like taste. I thought it will be sour and more lemon rich but not - that is a good thing. The only thing I do not understood is why it does not dissolve completely , it left with small particles on the bottom of the bottle even after 2 minutes of shaking and mixing with water.
Date published: 2014-05-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helping with muscle cramps I'm a new cyclist (about 4 months into it) and was having horrible muscle cramps. Part of it was bike fit but John and Orange Cycles in Orlando suggested I try this product. I haven't eliminated cramping but it has gotten a whole lot better. I quit taking Vytorin as well (heard statins could cause cramping; talked to doc first). The Gel has been a big bonus for me to. Hopefully a year from now, I'll have this stuff figured out and my fitness and endurance will be much better.
Date published: 2014-05-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff! My dad is a cyclist. So, I know it would do the job. Thank you, for making a good product.
Date published: 2014-05-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEED my advice. I am an ardent user of HEED. I drink it almost everyday, including race days and non-run days just to maintain my hydration levels. I love HEED in Mandarin Orange and I have ordered it several times and I will continue to order it for daily use, training runs, and pre-race hydration. It is by far the best and most well-balanced sports drink on the market. Hands down.
Date published: 2014-05-26

Date published: 2014-05-25

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEED for folks with a sensitive tummy! I have had issues with my stomach for the first 10 ironmans using every sport drink out there...often times seeing rainbows on the race course. Growing tired of blowing chunks on fellow racers, I gave HEED a try. Since then I have completed 6 Ironmans and a 50 miler on HEED and have not had any stomach issues. I give HEED a 5 tummy-friendly rating.
