Mito Caps odor?
I Ijust started using Hammer Nutrition supplements.
I noticed that my Mito Caps have a pretty strong sulfur dioxide odor. Is this normal?
Thanks

Hello bboehmer (please list your first name so we know who you are!) -
Lipoic acid is a sulfur-bearing nutrient, which is found in Mito Caps and the sulfur smell that you're noticing is most likely coming from that. It is normal as is the sulfur smell you may notice when you urinate.
The DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanolbitartrate) component in Mito Caps also has a rather pungent smell, though I wouldn't characterize it as sulfur-like, and like the lipoic acid, the smell is naturally occurring.
Sincerely -
Steve

Re: Mito Caps odor?
You're welcome Bob!
The question you asked is actually one that we receive fairly frequently, along with "why does my pee turn bright yellow after taking Premium Insurance Caps?" The answer to that question is due to the riboflavin (vitamin B2) component in the product, which alters the color/pigmentation of urine. Like the odor of lipoic acid in Mito Caps (and the alteration in the smell of one's urine), the change in the color of urine due to vitamin B2 is harmless as well.
Sincerely-
Steve
