RDB

Postby rodwilsonsr » Tue May 31, 2011 8:07 am

Hi All,
I am loading with RDB for a 50k trail race on Saturday. It appears that the dose amounts conflict on the website vs the container. I am using the powder not pills.
The site states that 1000mg 4xday is the protocol
The site also states 2 teaspoons 4xday
The container states 1 teaspoon has 1000mg
So I'm not sure if I should go with 1000mg per dose or 2 teaspoons per dose.

I'm around 190 pounds, so I dont know if I should be loading a bit more anyways.
Thanks
Rod

Hello Rod -

1000 mg of sodium phosphate for four days prior to a competition is the correct protocol. At some point during the transition from one manufacturer to our current manufacturer of RDB, we just recently found out that 1000 mg of sodium phosphate (along with the maltodextrin in the powdered version) DID NOT fit into one teaspoonful, but rather two. So to get the full 1000 mg of sodium phosphate from RDB powder you'll want to take two teaspoonfuls.

This "finding" does not affect the capsules; there is no maltodextrin in there so two capsules will yield 1000 mg of phosphate.

I hope this clears things up.

Sincerely -

Steve

BTW, the labels on the newer batches of RDB powder will reflect the correct total of 1000 mg per two teaspoonfuls.
