piriformis questions
Anyone have and advice on piriformis syndrome?
I know I'm supposed to give the running a rest for a bit (honestly don't know if I can do that
)
*I'm guessing up my tissue rejuv intake (ibupro is a HUGE no-no for my tummy)
*some PT
anything else???

Re: piriformis questions
Hi Claudia,
I would recommend sitting on a foam roll and rolling over the affected area to reduce adhesions in the muscle, if you don't have a foam roll sitting on a tennis ball and using as a self-massage over the affected area will also work, not fun but it does work. Yoga with emphasize on hip opening exercises may also help improve flexibility and relieve pain, if nothing else it will help to keep you calm and sane while you ease back on the running for a bit.
Good luck,
Hayley, PT

Re: piriformis questions
I have been battling an injured piriformis as well. I have found if do roll it out with a foam rollar or tennis ball it feels great. I have been trying to do this twice a day and it really makes a difference. I hope this gives you encouragement. I have not stopped running but I am sure if I did or cut back it would heal faster.
