heat rash

why do i get heat rash? I am not acclimated to riding in the heat (difficult to do during the week when I work indoors) so I go outside on weekends and get a red rash on my legs. Doesn't itch or hurt, but looks bad, and is a notice that my body is not responding well to the heat. Is there something I can do to reduce this? Yes, I will continue to try to acclimate to the heat outdoors. Maybe the sunscreen keeps my skin from sweating/breathing? I am fair skinned and blonde, double whammy.
