Compex use and regular training

After many years of compex use, I am still unsure of the best way of integrating compex use with my regular cycling training. My current cycling schedule includes tues, thurs, and sun for long tempo rides(80+miles) and Saturday as speed/interval day. I have older compex sports model. Should I be using the strength mode after my tempo rides and use endurance mode after my intervals? What about on my monday, weds, Friday off days?

If you follow the EMS features in our Endurance News magazine, you may remember an article Jim wrote for Endurance News issue 72 http://www.hammernutrition.com/downloads/ENews/ENissue72.pdf The article appears on page 22 where Jim offers examples of periodization with EMS. Each issue of Endurance News features a Compex session with helpful training tips. In the latest issue of Endurance News (issue 78) http://www.hammernutrition.com/downloads/ENews/ENissue78.pdf, a local athlete Scott Gaiser shares his story and Compex training tips. It depends somewhat on what you feel you need the most help with in your training. If you feel you've gotten a really good base but haven't been able to do as much intensity, you can run Resistance for development/recruitment of some of the fast twitch fibers and conversely, if you have no trouble getting intensity training in but haven't had as much base training as you'd like, you can run the Endurance program to tack on some time onto your endurance training days. If you get rained out and are contemplating skipping your workout for the day, Compex would be a good supplement to the training you would otherwise be getting conventionally on the bike.
