Supplement Suggestions for Your Epic WorkoutsWhen you’ve got long, tough workouts planned, you need the best supplement support possible to help you get the most out of every minute you put into these arduous training sessions. That’s precisely when and where these specific Hammer Nutrition products excel! This time of the year, when training volume & intensity increases, is the perfect opportunity to put these products to work for you. Below is a protocol I put together for athletes prior to the 2009 Highline Hammer in response to the question, “What supplements do you personally take before, during, and after a long, hard ride, an ‘epic’ ride?”

Here is the list of supplements and amounts that I currently use and suggest. Much more details about this protocol can be found in Endurance News #65, specifically at http://www.hammernutrition.com/EN/EN65/ENissue65.html#epic

30-120 minutes prior to the workout

  • 1-2 Race Caps Supreme
  • 1-2 Mito Caps
  • 2-4 Anti-Fatigue Caps
  • 2-4 Endurance Amino
  • 1-3 Endurolytes

Every hour during the workout, starting at hour #2

  • 1-2 Race Caps Supreme
  • 1-2 Mito Caps
  • 2-4 Anti-Fatigue Caps
  • 2-4 Endurance Amino
  • 1-3 Endurolytes (more if weather dictates its necessity)

After the workout is over (with Recoverite)

  • 4-7 Premium Insurance Caps (with a similar dose taken with a later meal)
  • 1-2 Race Caps Supreme
  • 1-2 Mito Caps
  • 1 AO Booster (with another capsule taken with a later meal)
  • 1-2 Super Antioxidant
  • 2-4 Endurance Amino
  • 1 Chromemate
  • 1 Xobaline
  • 1 Boron

  • I’ve had great result using your electrolytes and anti-fatigue products. I,ve been talking Hammer up at the century rides I’ve been on recently. At the half way point on a recent ride I was offered $5 for two capsules (out of pity I gave the guy a couple,no charge). I’m sure you,ve picked up some new clients!
My pleasure and thanks for all you do for the endurance athlete. Bob Green
